B.A.D. GYM URAWA is a bench press specialty gym in Kita-Urawa, Saitama, Japan — one minute on foot from the station’s West Exit, about 25 minutes from Tokyo Station. It is supervised by Yusuke Suzuki, two-time IPF Classic Bench Press World Champion (2018 and 2019). We pre-opened on 5 September 2026 and hold our grand opening on 1 October 2026.

Opening days — read this before you travel

September 2026 is a pre-opening period. We open on three days only: 14 September (Mon) 10:00–22:00, 19 September (Sat) 10:00–22:00 and 25 September (Fri) 17:00–19:30. These dates are the current plan and may change; updates are announced on Yusuke Suzuki’s Instagram (@bodyartdesign).

From the grand opening on 1 October 2026 we open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–22:00, closed Mondays.

Drop-in visits are only possible from 1 October 2026. You cannot use the gym as a visitor on the three September pre-opening days.

Drop-in and visitor rates

All prices include tax. There is no joining fee for visitors.

  • 1 day — JPY 3,300. Use the gym as many times as you like that day, within opening hours.
  • 1 week — JPY 7,700. Seven days from your first visit.
  • JPY 2,200 per day for competitors registered with the JPA (Japan Powerlifting Association) and for members of Yusuke Suzuki’s online salon. Please show your registration card.
  • Accompanying a member — JPY 2,200. Registration in advance; one guest per member.
  • One-off registration fee — JPY 1,100, charged once on your first visit for identity check and agreement to the rules.

So a first day visit costs JPY 4,400 in total (JPY 3,300 for JPA-registered competitors and salon members). Payment is cashless only — we do not accept cash. Reservation is required.

Competition-standard kit, so your training numbers mean the same thing on the platform.

House rules that matter to visitors

  • Loose (powder) chalk is not allowed, including bringing your own. Liquid chalk is provided free of charge — you do not need to buy any.
  • Staff do not spot. Use the safety bars, or ask another lifter. This is a competition-standard rack setup and the safeties are there to be used.
  • Keep at least one metre between you and other lifters in the free-weight area.
  • No personal speakers in the gym area. Headphones are fine. Please take phone calls at the entrance.
  • Please train in a shirt. No strong fragrance or hair product — the room is enclosed.
  • Drinks must have a lid. Food is for the reception area only.
  • No training under the influence of alcohol.
  • Coaching, recruiting or selling to other users without our permission is not allowed.
  • Users must be 18 or over. Ages 16 and 17 need written consent from a parent or guardian.

Facilities and what to bring

Separate changing rooms for men and women, rental lockers, free Wi-Fi, toilets. There are no showers, so bring a towel if you need one. Bring training clothes, indoor shoes and your own drink.

There is no car park and no bicycle parking. Please use a nearby paid car park or bicycle park; do not leave bicycles on the street outside the building. The station is one minute away, so coming by train is easiest.

Rental locker for members: JPY 1,650 per month.

Membership and personal training

  • Monthly membership — JPY 14,300
  • Founding member — JPY 13,200, for the first 30 people joining between 5 September and 31 December 2026. This rate never rises.
  • Joining fee — JPY 11,000, flat; founding members pay it too. Visitors do not pay it.
  • Annual membership — JPY 157,300 (eleven months for twelve)
  • Personal training with Yusuke Suzuki — 60 min JPY 15,400 / 90 min JPY 19,800 / 120 min JPY 24,200. With a certified trainer, 60 min JPY 9,900.

All prices include tax. New membership applications are not open yet; the opening will be announced on Instagram.
