A gym with Eleiko on the floor

Train every day on the same spec of rack used at world championships. One minute from Kita-Urawa station west exit.

Eleiko has been the Official Equipment Partner to the IPF since 2009. The company was founded in 1957 and states that its equipment is “behind more than 1,000 world records”. B.A.D. GYM URAWA keeps an Eleiko IPF-certified competition combo rack on the floor, so your everyday training happens on the same spec used in competition.

Why it matters

Why the make of the equipment changes your result

In the bench press, rack height, bar knurl and plate weight matter down to millimetres and tens of grams. Compete on a rack you have never used and the lift-off alone can cost you a weight you should have made. Training on competition spec is what makes your technique repeatable.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q.01What is Eleiko?
A strength equipment maker founded in 1957. It has been the Official Equipment Partner to the IPF (International Powerlifting Federation) since 2009 and also meets the competition standards of the IWF (International Weightlifting Federation). The company states that more than 1,000 world records have been set on its equipment.
Q.02Which Eleiko does B.A.D. GYM URAWA have?
One IPF-certified competition combo rack, one seal row bench and one Cable Cross 120kg. There are also two MBC POWER combo racks and two double half-rack stations, making three combo racks in total.
Q.03Can I use the Eleiko rack without becoming a member?
Yes. Visitor use (one day or one week) has no joining fee. There are set rates for JPA-registered lifters and Yusuke Suzuki salon members. Visitor use is only while staff are in.
Q.04What difference does training on an IPF-certified rack make?
It is the same spec as the rack used at competition, so the lift-off height and safety positions do not change on the day. On an unfamiliar rack the same weight can fail. The more you compete, the more this shows in your result.
Q.05What is the seal row bench for?
A bench you lie face down on to row a barbell — the “seal row”. You cannot use momentum, so the work stays in your back (lats and traps). We keep it to train the pulling side that bench pressing does not. Not many gyms have one.
Q.06Can a beginner use the Eleiko equipment?
Yes. Learning on competition spec from the start saves you from unlearning habits later. When staff are in, we will show you how to use it and how to set the safeties. You can also try it on the free trial (about 60 minutes, by appointment).
Q.07Can I use it for just a few days while travelling in before a meet?
Yes. Visitor use is available by the day or by the week, with no joining fee. You can peak on the Eleiko IPF-certified competition combo rack, the same spec as the meet. One minute from Kita-Urawa station west exit, with free Wi-Fi throughout the gym. Visitor use is only while staff are in, so please book once your dates are set.
Q.08Can the Eleiko combo rack be used for anything other than bench press?
Yes. A combo rack handles both bench press and squat. A jack changes the bar height, so changeovers are quick and waiting time stays short even when several people share it.
